Oral Presentations
Oral Presentation Format
Oral presenters will present a 15 minute presentation of their abstract (12 minute oral presentation and 3 minutes Q&A).
Oral presentations should include an accompanying slide deck.
Presenters MUST use Microsoft Powerpoint to create their slide deck to prevent issues with uploading and compatibility with onsite IT.
Presenters are asked to name their Powerpoint file: SessionID_LastName_SubmissionID.pptx (e.g. 2C_LastName_146)
Presentations can be uploaded in advance of the Annual Meeting (via an email link that will be provided by email to oral presenters via Oxford Abstracts) or onsite in the Speaker Ready Station.
Presenters may also stop by the Speaker Ready Station at least 2 hours prior to their presentation time to upload their presentation from a USB memory stick, or to check the format of their presentation on Queen’s IT systems.
Oral Presentations
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled session and check in with the session moderator.
In each session, presenters will be introduced by a moderator for their presentation. Oral presenters should introduce themselves to the session moderators before the start of the session, seat themselves near the front of the session room, and be present for the entire session to ensure that they are ready to present. This is especially important in the case that your session runs ahead of schedule or any last minute changes to the schedule need to be made. Please be courteous of all presenters and attendees when presenting and answering questions.
Poster Presentations
Poster Format
All poster presenters are responsible for printing their own posters. The dimensions of the poster should not exceed 4’ (w) by 4′ (h). Push pins will be provided.
Please ensure you are present at your poster for the entire session. Posters being judged should prepare for a 5-minute oral presentation of their poster and then will have 2 minutes of questions with judges (see below for more information on presentation awards).

Oral and Poster Presentation Awards
All trainee (student and postdoctoral fellows) will be considered for presentation awards. If you do not want your oral or poster presentation to be considered, please send an email to CBS2025@queensu.ca with the subject line: Withdraw from CBS2025 Presenter Awards Competition [Note: You will still be expected to present your oral or poster presentation, but we will remove you from the judges list].
Oral Presentations: All trainee oral presentations will be judged by a minimum of 2 judges, according to the criteria outlined below.
Poster Presentations: During your assigned poster session, you can expect two judges to visit your poster. You will be given 5 minutes to present your poster, followed by 2 minutes for Q&A. Each judge will submit their scores individually.
